Driving and dining is Rögnvaldur Guðbrandsson driver guide and chef. Rögnvaldur can work as a chef or driver or both in the same day tour. With Rögnvaldur on the RAM 3500 modified, there can be a maximum of 4 passengers on a day trip and a feast can be arranged at the destination. In the case of larger groups, the feast is ready when the group arrives at their destination, Rögnvaldur will then meet the group at a predetermined location.

Rögnvaldur Guðbrandsson has been a self-employed driver guide since 2015. As a driver guide, he works for travel agencies and tour operators with a good reputation. Rögnvaldur has earned a good reputation and has received many compliments from tourists who have been guests on tours with him.

Rögnvaldur Guðbrandsson graduated as a chef in 1989. Over the years, he has worked in many of the best restaurants in the country, Hotel Holt, Jónatan Livingstone Mávur, Hotel Stykkishólmur, Rub 23 to name a few.

For individuals and groups of up to 10 people, Rögnvaldur serves delicious meals whether in the lowlands or the wilderness of Iceland.

A feast is served, with full tableware in a pop up restaurant set up for this unique occasion. For those who want a unique experience and enjoy privacy in Icelandic nature, this is just the thing.

Horse back riding with personal service
It is ideal for families and small groups of friends. Everyone can take part and the guides can lead the youngest childrens by the rein during the trip. We always start inside the riding arena where we will teach you all the basics and then we go outside and ride with you. There are good horses for both unexperienced riders and as well for experienced riders. You can choose between 1, 2 or 3 hours trips and even a day-trip for experienced riders which are 5 hours.

We also provide children tours where we lead their horses by the rein inside the riding arena for about 10 minutes.

We accommodate guests to visit our farm animals and see a real icelandic farm! We guide you on the farm for about 1 hour and you get the opportunity to spend some time with our animals to get to know them and pet them.

Holiday house
Cosy holiday house in the country side where up to 7 people can sleep. Vorsabær 2 is situated only 80 kilometers from Reykjavík. In the house there are 2 bedrooms, one of which has a double bed and the other a bunk bed. Besides there is a 18 m2 sleeping loft with 3 beds. We also provide a crib on request, free for children up to 2 years old. There is floor heating in the house and the kitchen is equipped with all necessary tableware and is included in a spacious living room with a TV. Outside the living room is a patio with garden furniture and a gas barbecue. The view from the house is breathtaking, looking east you can see the volcano Hekla and in winter there is a good chance to witness amazing northern lights!

Our guide, dressed as a woman from the 19th century, and takes you on a walk from our meeting point or from the port through the city and up to the slopes above Ísafjörður. On the way you will visit interesting places, such as historical houses and trade centres from the prime time of Ísafjörður. You will get information on history and learn about the people and their living conditions, their beliefs and their culture, which is reflected in the legends. Iceland South Coast Travel is a family company specialized in organizing guided day tours in South Iceland on four wheel drive vehicles. The vehicles are comfortable and well equipped where the driver is also the guide (driver-guide). We recommend group sizes of 2-6 persons per tour. The most popular day tour is the Golden Circle and then the South Coast tour but if you would like to visit the highland we recommend Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk. We can drive the South Coast to the lagoon Jokulsarlon but that is a long day tour that will take ten to thirteen hours. An exciting day tour is with the ferry Herjólfur from the new harbor at Bakki to the Westman Islands. Lakagigar is nestled deep in the Icelandic highlands between the glaciers Vatnajökull and Mýrdalsjökull . This is like entering another world like no other place on earth.  Some have seen similarity with the land of Mordor in the epic adventure film Lord of the Rings based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien yet so beautiful and peaceful in the middle of the mountains and mossy green lava.

Don’t risk your precious rental car crossing rivers on the rough track to Laki.  There is no insurance in the world that covers damage to your car when crossing rivers.   

Crossing deep rivers and driving on rough mountain tracks are what the Icelandic Super Jeep was made for.  The Super Jeep was born in Iceland.  It’s a four-wheel drive, all-terrain vehicles equipped with massive suspension systems and tires ranging from 38″ to 46″ in size.  Besides using enormous tires, these vehicles have reshaped bodies to house the larger wheels, extended suspension, and a special lift kit to increase the ride height.  

Most Icelandic mountain tracks and roads (f roads) are just for larger 4x4 vehicles with experienced drivers.  They are narrow little maintained tracks and there are rivers to cross and sharp rocks and pot holes hard to see on the way. 

Let your expert local driver guide do the driving while he gives you informative comments about the history and geology of Lakagigar. 

Among the places we visit in the tour is Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, Fagrifoss waterfall, Tjarnargigur Crater and of course Lakagigar and the mountain Laki.  

The tour begins in Kirkjubæklaustur, a southern town often nicknamed Klaustur by locals. 

Many visitors to Iceland will find themselves in this historic location as they travel the South Coast; it is between the village of Vík Í Mýrdal and the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and is steeped in religious heritage.

South East ehf is a small family business  located in the town of Höfn on the southeast coast of Iceland.

Our names are Anna María and Siggi and we have two children who are not so much children any more, we run this business and our aim is to make your visit to our beautiful area as magnificent as we can. We have lived here almost all our lives and know the area and its hidden gems.

Siggi is the driver and guide, he has volunteered for many years in our local rescue unit, he is a captain of the rescue ship in Höfn, He worked as a fisherman for about 23 years mostly as a captain, but for the last years he has been a harbor pilot and the director of the port of Hornafjörður.

Even in my early youth in my home country Germany, I got to know and love the Icelandic horses. In 1996 I moved to Iceland and finished the FT young horse trainer diploma, awarded by the Icelandic Horse Trainers Association. Over the years I have gathered a lot of experience in horse tourism and worked on various farms as a guide and a horse trainer. Since 2004, I have been a part-time adjunct in the tourism department of the Hólar University college, in addition to my job as a horse trainer. In 2007 I completed an MBA degree in Tourism and Leisure Management. In 2010 I began my studies at Hólar University College’s department of Equine science from where I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in riding and riding instructions in May 2013. 2013 - June 2014 I worked as a horse trainer at Mette Mannseth´s and Gisli Gislason´s farm Þúfur. Mette is the chef riding teacher in Hólar University College and the first woman to achieve the Master riding teacher and horse trainer degree of Iceland. This is the highest degree in icelandic horsemanship and just 5 other riders have ever achieved it.
Gisli and Mette are also among the best competition and breeding horse riders in Iceland.

Since september 2014 I am parttime teacher at the department of Equine studies of Hólar University College.

The hosts, Eyglo and Josavin have lived in Arnarnes since 1981. For the first 18 years they were traditional farmers with cows, sheep and horses but have stopped farming altogether. Southcoast Adventure was established in 2009 by Þorgerður Guðmundsdóttir and Ársæll Hauksson. To begin with, there was just ONE jeep that was used to offer trips to tourists and mostly Icelanders who wanted to see more of their beautiful country. Two years later, their first member of staff was hired. The company today has 28 vehicles of all shapes and sizes, including snowmobiles and 4×4 buggies.

Initially, daily trips were offered to Eyjafjallajökul, Þórsmörk, and Fimmvörðuháls. Today, the company has grown considerably, and daily trips are offered in many vehicles to many destinations: snowmobile and buggy trips; twice daily departures to the ice cave; trips transporting luggage for those clients who are doing hikes to the various glaciers, mountains, and the interior; glacier ice-hikes as well as those up mountains and further inland.

All of this and custom-made trips/adventures for those who thirst for something off the beaten track. Many of the staff are also active members of the local Search and Rescue, and this obviously is a bonus when dealing with Icelandic nature and the sometimes rugged environment. Thankfully, their unique skills have not often been called upon, but it is a reassuring skill to have.

ATV´S
Our ATV’s are registered, as on road vehicles and we are therefore able to offer you many variations of tours and activities – if you got a valid driver licence. They are automatic and easy to drive, so no experience is needed. We do tours from 2 hours up to a whole day adventure and the tours are available all days – all year round!

The tours

2-3 hour

This 2-3 hours ATV tour takes you between two of Iceland‘s most famous and notorious volcanos, Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull. We will be crossing small rivers and will visit waterfalls and caves along the way. From our base in Lambalækur we head to the North where you will experience driving in riverbeds and along less traveled paths West of Mt. Þríhyrningur. During the tour we will stop at a cave which was once inhabited by Irish monks located by the river Fiská. This stop offers a great view over the famous Hekla volcano and Mt. Tindfjoll. At the cave we will light a fire where we treat ourselves with cup of coffee, te and hot chocolate. Just outside the cave entrance stands a rock formation believed to be home of elves and sometimes we even make contact with the inhabitants. This tour offers an easy ride for everyone.

HIGHLAND ADVENTURE
FISHING FOR TROUT AND CHAR

Fish for truly wild brown trout and Arctic char in the purest mountain lakes and streams amidst the untouched wilderness.
Once inaccessible to all but a few, this region is traversed by gravel roads which only open during the summer months. Your personal guide will transport you by four-wheel-drive vehicle across the black sands and lava fields, past bizarre volcanic landforms, through unbridged rivers and geothermal areas, deep into the interior.
If you are an angler with a sense of adventure then this tour will tick all the boxes: exciting fishing in remote, awesome locations for beautiful brown trout and hard-fighting Arctic char weighing up to 8lbs (3.5kgs).
Floating lines and small black flies are vital although it’s good to have slow sinking lines for use in deeper water. A special selection of Icelandic trout flies can be provided if requested in advance.

FISHING FOR SILVER BARS OF SALMON

With over one hundred self-sustaining Atlantic salmon rivers in Iceland, each fishing up to 20 rods per day, there is a wealth of fishing opportunities to enjoy in this unique country. However, to first-time anglers, visitors new to the island or salmon junkies who want to escape for just a day or two, finding out where to go, what’s available, how to get there and sourcing tackle hire can be a daunting prospect.
By booking a day trip in the company of a professional angling guide everything will be taken care of so all you have to do is wear the appropriate clothing and be ready on collection. The ability to cast a fly rod (9-12 feet long) will help you to make the most of your time on the water, but it is not necessary. Fly fishing instruction can be provided on the river and your day will be planned to suit individual or group requirements.
Amongst those rivers which may be selected for your fishing, (depending on the latest catches and availablity), are the River Sog, River Korpa, River Laxa, River Brynjudalsa,
River Hvita, River Stora Laxa, River Affall, River Thvera, River Skoga, River Ranga Junction and others.

Our life is horse tours. It's been our passion, all our life. To go out in the nature and be a team with the horse. To see the beautiful places, and sometimes tough landscape, that molded our beloved Icelandic horse. To have the companionship of other horse lovers, and to just live and breath the fresh air in the nature, and feel the rhythm of life.

We offer guided horse tours with one of us, the local farmers at Langhus farm, or our assistant guides. We have well trained horses, steady and obedient, they are our family and work horses, and some of them have been used for competitions, they are happy, well taken care of, get regular days off, and a long vacation every year, and live a fulfilled life. We take the time to match you with the right horse for you, and to give good instructions about riding so you can enjoy the tour better. We keep this on a personal level, so people can see the Icelandic nature, the background of the horses and what made them what they are (the sometimes harsh and sometimes wonderful nature, the breeding, the people and the culture), get lessons if they want, get to know excellent horses and visit an Icelandic farm on the real countryside.

We have several tour options 1-4 hour long. But we can also do a special tour based on your wishes. We can do private tours for an extra fee. Just feel free to contact us and we make something wonderful together, and more important, have fun. Sometimes people also book more than one day tour. On our website you also find information about what accommodation is in the neighborhood, ideas about what to do when not riding etc.

Our groups are usually small and at the speed and difficulty that fits our guests. But if you have a bigger group, then we can now accommodate groups of 18 beginner riders, and 25 if some in your group are experienced. We also have programs for even bigger groups than that.

Also, it always takes a few minutes extra to prepare you for the tour, and it's not fun for you to be in a hurry. We do a little riding lesson before the tour itself starts, so if you are beginners you learn a bit about how to ride, and experienced riders learn how to ride the Icelandic horse. That is helpful and fun for everybody. So, the whole visit/experience here can easily take 30-90 minutes more than the tour itself. On the other hand, if you are very experienced and on a tight schedule we can do the whole process in a fast way and focus simply on the ride itself.

Animal welfare is also a priority for us, each horse never goes on more than 1 tour per day, and we give them at least 2 days off per week. They also get at least 2 months of vacation every year. They have big grassy pastures to roam on and top quality hay in the winter time. They live a very natural life in big herds.

Eco-consciousness is also a priority on our farm, to minimize trash, pollution and strain on nature.

Our add-on options, the geothermal mineral bath, and the waffle lunch, are also very popular.

We welcome you to the horse breeding farm Skeiðvellir. If you want to get to know the Icelandic horse while traveling in Iceland you have come to the right place. Skeiðvellir is a family run horse breeding and training farm which is home to around 100 horses. We offer a unique chance to get to know our remarkable horses and explore the beautiful landscape on horseback.

For those who don´t want to ride but do want to interact with and get to know more about the Icelandic Horse, we offer a guided tour of the stable with where you'll get a chance to be up close with the horses, pet them to your heart's content and learn of their long history and what makes them a truly unique breed of horses. Furthermore, for a small fee, we offer a little horse rental for children, where they can try sitting on a horse and riding it as a guide leads them around in the riding hall.

Bakkaflöt is a family-owned company that started in 1987. We offer a variety of accommodations. We have a 22 room guesthouse that offers cozy cabin with en suite bathrooms, double or triple rooms with shared
