The Harbour restaurant
The Harbor is a family-run restaurant that Brynjar and Elsa set up in 2010.
Special attention was paid to maintaining the spirit of the times and the “soul” of the house, the aquagreen houses on the harbour are built in the 1930’s and served here as baiting sheds and fishing gear storage over the turn of the last century.
The sons have been either in the kitchen or dining area. Logi is regulating the kitchen with the help of his father, while other highly qualified people are responsible for making the guests feel comfortable. Brynjar and Logi are both masterchefs and Elsa’s “kolde jomfruer” and learned her craft in Denmark.
Andri graduated as a waiter from the Harbor and The Hotel and Catering School in 2015.
A strong family connection to fishery attracted Brynjar and Elsa to this house which was to be torn down, but the economic crisis saved it. Today the area contains numbers of restaurants and shops that have been built up in recent years, in combination with small boats and fishermens bringing home the catch directly in front of the restaurant. It has become a popular new district in the city center, as hundreds of tourists and locals visit daily.
The harbor is a two floor restaurant and can seat up to a 100 guests. With a magical view overseeing the marina, the local trade and its comunity and to top it of you have the beautiful Esja mountain and the bay in the backround.
The Harbour focuses on classic Icelandic cuisine with a modern twist. Including popular dishes are; the shellfish soup which has become quite famous, also the mussels, the traditional fish stew, char and the Icelandic lamb and beef.
Food and drinks can also be enjoyed on our terrace, which is the best one in the area.
The family bids their guests welcome and hopes that they will experience the modern touch to the still classic Icelandic cuisine presented by masterchef´s.
