Hrífunes Nature Park
There is something about Hrífunes Nature Park that immediately captures our visitors’ imagination. It is an attractive new leisure resort in southern Iceland. It is located half-way between the villages of Vík í Mýrdal and Kirkjubæjarklaustur. The south of Iceland is famed for the range of contrasts found there. For instance: ice, active volcanoes, woods, sandy beaches, lava fields, thriving villages, dramatic history and a peaceful atmosphere. The park lies in Skaftártunga, a lush and attractive area with views of two of the country’s most imposing glaciers. To the West is Mýrdalsjökull and to the North-east is the great Vatnajökull. This is the largest ice-cap in Iceland and among the most impressive on the planet outside the polar regions.
