Hot Dog Stand
Everything began when…
The year 1984 when Ingunn Guðmundsdóttir invested in an extremely small housing for the sole purpose of selling hot dogs. Only a three square meter cabin was used which was located at Ölfusárbrú in Selfoss, but only one person stood the shift at anytime without a toilet or running water.
The year 1985 construction was undertaken and the wagon expanded to a total of seven square meters. The luxury of having running water was added, but still there was no toilet space. However, the number of employees had increased from one person to eight.
The year 1988 became a turning point in the history of Pylsuvagninn in Selfoss, when the square meter number of the small wagon doubled from seven to fourteen square meters, and with that we added the long-awaited toilet that has been used without concern ever since. But this extension also added drive-thru windows. With this unseen technology in Selfoss the business was quickly starting to boom.
The year 1995 a completely new building for the company is built from scratch. After the construction, Pylsuvagninn in Selfoss is now equipped with two drive-thru windows, its size has become 22 square meters and the employee number has risen to 18. Today, the wagon looks similar, but much has changed.
The year 2009 comes by and still Pylsuvagninn gets bigger. An impressive rear extension is finished with style and expands Pylsuvagninn to a total of 86 square meters and that enables the company to have it’s entire warehouse along with food sales within the same premises. It still looks like this today and there are about 30 employees who are standing by with a smile on their face.
Looking forward to meeting you, the girls in Pylsuvagninum!
