Broddanes HI Hostel
Once upon a time school, now small friendly family-owned hostel. Broddanes is perched on a scenic peninsula on the edge of the West Fjords. It is a true nature lover’s paradise away from it all. With 180-degree windows, bird watchers don’t even have to leave the comfort of the common room to spot ducks, terns, puffins and other birds in the area. Seals can also be spotted swimming by the shore and the bird hide created from driftwood is the perfect place to enjoy the midnight sun. For those more adventurous, the hostel offers kayaks for hire to get up close to the animals that perch on the small cay just a few meters from your door.
The hostel is located on road no. 68, about 240 km away from Reykjavík and about 35 km south of Hólmavík. Coming from Reykjavík you turn off road no. 1 just north of Staðarskáli in Hrútafjörður and drive 75 km along road no. 68. No food service is at the hostel and next food store is in Hólmavík
