Geysir Glíma
Geysir Glíma has an Icelandic menu using the freshest fish and meat of the season with a strong focus on local produce. It is located right across the hot spring area at Geysir Haukadalur with great view over the area.
Glima chefs use local ingredients of the highest quality and freshness, “beint frá býli” (straight from the farmer). The Icelandic fish is one of the world’s best ingredients and we make the best out of it. You can also find gourmet lamb, pork, pizza, panini, salads, sandwiches and light dishes. Every day we offer a soup and salad bar with 3 kinds of soups: fish soup, vegetable soup and the famous Icelandic meat soup. We offer a wide range of cakes and freshly ground coffee from Illy. The perfect way to finish your meal is to try our wide selection of ice cream.
The restaurant is designed by Leifur Welding and is inspired by Icelandic nature and Icelandic design. Sigurdur Greipsson, the family ancestor of the hotel staff, was a famous Icelandic wrestler “glímukappi” and in his honour the restaurant also introduces Iceland’s only national sport; “glíma”. Among other things, the Grettisbeltið is on display, the most famous treasure in the whole of Icelandic sports history as well as the oldest.
