Akureyri - Icelandair

Domestic flights from Reykjavík airport (located close to the city center) are the ideal solution for the fast-paced traveler, eager to arrive at their destination while enjoying some aerial views. Exploring the extraordinary North Iceland is less than an hour's flight away. 

Akureyri in North Iceland is the country's second largest urban area and home to roughly 20,000 people. Nestled in the heart of Iceland's longest fjord, this charming town is the perfect mix of culture, nature, and adventure.  

Icelandair flies regularly between Reykjavík and Akureyri, and between October 15th and November 30th, 2023, Icelandair will offer direct flights between Akureyri and Keflavík International Airport. Icelandair also offers flights from Reykjavík to Ísafjörður in the Westfjords, a magnificent area that's truly off the beaten track with wild landscapes and amazing cliffside scenes, and Egilsstaðir in East Iceland, with its quiet fjords, forests, lakes, and mountains to explore. Seasonal flights are offered to Vestmannaeyjar, also known as the Westman Islands in South Iceland, but this spectacular archipelago is only a 20-minute flight from Reykjavík.
